Construction on a new Commuter Rail station in Mattapan, located between Blue Hill Avenue and Cummins Highway, is now complete.

Blue Hill Avenue Station opened to Fairmount Line customers February 25, 2019.

As part of our $9.6 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.

Project Features

  • A new 800-foot long high-level platform for accessible boarding
  • Platform access from Cummins Highway and Blue Hill Avenue overpasses
  • Passenger shelters, canopies, benches, and windscreens
  • A new train approach warning system
  • Wayfinding and service messaging signage
  • New video surveillance equipment, public telephones, and emergency call boxes
  • Ramps and sloped walkways, and tactile warning strips at the platform edge
  • Bike racks planned
