Franklin Line East Street Bridge Rehabilitation

The completed bridge is viewed from a sidewalk down the road from the bridge. A sign showing that the bridge has a clearance of 13 feet and 3 inches is posted on the sidewalk just before the bridge; the previous bridge was under 11 feet high.

The East Street Bridge, which carries the Franklin Line over East Street in Westwood, has been upgraded for improved vehicle clearance and pedestrian safety.

The original bridge, built in 1911, had low clearance, and the roadway beneath had no sidewalks, posing a safety hazard to vehicles and pedestrians passing under it.
