See Orange Line Work We Completed February 7 – 9

We’re continuing weekend maintenance work on the Orange Line in 2020. During these shutdowns, we’ll close sections of track so crews can bring vehicles and equipment into the central subway tunnel.
These service shutdowns allow our crews to complete work on 2 projects simultaneously—Orange Line Maintenance and Station Brightening—without requiring major long-term service closures.

Building a Better T
As part of our $9.6 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.
Weekend 3: What We Completed
During the third weekend shutdown of 2020, our crews replaced 520 feet of full-depth track on North Station’s southbound side and 3,240 feet of continuous welded rail in Haymarket, State Street, and Downtown Crossing’s southbound pits.
We also:
- Made repairs to platform edges on Haymarket, State, Downtown Crossing, and Chinatown’s northbound and southbound sides
- Installed new tactile warning strips on Haymarket’s northbound and southbound platforms
- Installed 5 cross-track wayfinding signs at Chinatown
- Made stair repairs at Downtown Crossing and Chinatown
