Work Continues on Eight New Bus Boarding Platforms for Columbus Avenue Bus Lanes

Updated on December 28, 2020

Construction of new bus boarding platforms and pedestrian improvements is progressing along the Columbus Avenue project corridor. Crews began construction on the remaining two platforms (Columbus Avenue @ Bray Street outbound and Columbus Avenue @ Dimock Street outbound). This is an exciting step as construction of all eight new bus boarding platforms is now underway.

  • Continued pedestrian improvement work, including installation of new sidewalks and curb ramps throughout the corridor

Over the next two weeks, crews will continue working to construct new platforms at all eight stops:

  • Columbus Avenue @ Walnut Avenue (outbound)
  • Columbus Avenue @ Walnut Avenue (inbound)
  • Columbus Avenue @ Dixwell Street (outbound)
  • Columbus Avenue @ Dixwell Street (inbound)
  • Columbus Avenue @ Bray Street (outbound)

Crews will continue constructing new sidewalks, curbs, pedestrian ramps, and traffic signal improvements throughout the corridor.

Service and Travel Impacts

Due to the installation of bus only lanes on Columbus Ave, stops may be temporarily relocated/closed through early 2021. Please follow the posted signs for temporary stop locations and nearest connection points.

Entrances to abutting properties may be temporarily adjusted around the work zones. However, our goal is to maintain access for businesses and private properties at all times.

The schedule for this major infrastructure project is weather-dependent and subject to change without notice.
