Commercial Street Bridge Work Begins November 6

The existing Commercial Street bridge on the Newburyport/Rockport Line of the Commuter Rail

Note: This work did not take place as scheduled. We'll update this page when new construction dates are set in 2022.


We’re replacing the bridge that carries the Newburyport/Rockport Line over Commercial Street in Lynn between River Works and Lynn Station. On November 6, crews will begin preparing to install the new bridge foundation.

What to Expect During This Work

This work will take place over six weekends from Saturday, November 6 to Monday, December 20. There will be no work on the weekend of November 27 – 28.

Each weekend, crews will work from 4 AM on Saturday to 4 AM on Monday.

Neighborhood Impacts

If we expect that any of this work will have significant noise or traffic impacts in the neighborhood, we will send updates via email.
