Major Construction on Intervale Road Bridge Begins March 26
Updated on March 15, 2021
We're replacing the bridge that carries the Framingham/Worcester Line over Intervale Rd in Weston. On March 26, crews will begin installing new foundations for the bridge. This initial work will take place over the weekend, but we will need to detour traffic through the summer to accommodate ongoing construction.
This project will bring the bridge to a State of Good Repair, improving safety, resiliency, and reliability of the Worcester Line.
Building a Better T
As part of our $9.6 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.
What to Expect During this Work
Work will begin at 8 PM on Friday, March 26, and continue around the clock through 5 AM on Monday, March 29.
Service Impacts
Shuttles will replace train service on the Framingham/Worcester Line all day Saturday and Sunday.

Neighborhood Impacts
To allow for this weekend work and future construction, Intervale Rd will be closed to travel from March 22 through July 26. We will install signage indicating the detour route before construction begins. We encourage drivers to avoid the area or seek alternate routes to avoid delays.

If we expect that any of this work will have significant noise or traffic impacts in the neighborhood, we will send updates via email.
The schedule for this major infrastructure project is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
