Steel Assembly Work for the Bacon Street Bridge Begins May 3
Updated on April 30, 2021
We're replacing the bridge that carries the Framingham/Worcester Line over Bacon Street in Wellesley. On May 3, crews will begin assembling steel and finalizing bolting and welding for the new superstructure.
This project will bring the bridge to a State of Good Repair, improving safety, resiliency, and reliability of the Worcester Line.
Building a Better T
As part of our $9.6 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.
What to Expect During this Work
Work will begin at 8 AM on Monday, May 3 and continue Monday through Friday, 8 AM – 3 PM for four to six weeks.
Neighborhood Impacts
To allow for this work, Bacon Street near Route 135 will be closed to travel during work hours. We will install signage indicating the detour route before any major construction begins. We encourage drivers to avoid the area or seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
