Codman Yard Expansion and Improvements
We’re upgrading Codman Yard to support the all-new fleet of modern and spacious Red Line vehicles.

Building a Better T
As part of our $9.6 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.
Project Features
The improvements to Codman Yard will provide additional vehicle storage and help crews move trains through the yard more safely and easily. It will feature:
- Six new storage tracks
- Radio-controlled snow melters for the third rail
- Upgraded crossover, bypass track, and walkways
- New inspection pit and rehabilitated vehicle wash
- New CCTV system, fencing, and neighborhood-friendly efficient LCD lighting
- Improved entrance on Gallivan & Hillsdale
- Upgraded signal components for potential future signalization of the yard

Red Line vehicles are stored on storage tracks at Codman Yard. We are installing six new storage tracks to accommodate the new vehicles and upgrading the existing infrastructure to bring the yard to a State of Good Repair.
Codman Yard will be upgraded to accommodate new and expanding Red Line fleet.
