We’re replacing the bridge that carries the Newburyport/Rockport Line over Commercial Street in Lynn between River Works and Lynn stations.

On Monday, April 24, our contractor for the Commercial Street Bridge Replacement Project started finishing work and completing final punch list items.

Building a Better T

As part of our $9.6 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.

What to Expect During This Work

This work will continue into the coming weeks Monday – Friday from 6 AM – 3 PM each day.

Neighborhood Impacts

Traffic protection measures, like lane markers, turn lane arrows, traffic cones, and other temporary signs, will be put in place during this work. However, generally no detour is expected other than during work to complete roadway milling and paving. We will send milling and paving updates through email.

  • Traffic along Commercial Street will be maintained.
  • Drivers should expect delays and may want to use alternate routes.
  • Drivers should reduce speed and use caution.

The schedule for this major infrastructure project is weather-dependent and subject to change without notice.
