Parking Will Be Reduced at Braintree Garage as Accelerated Work Begins

Updated on January 28, 2020

A crew member works on the Braintree Garage as part of the South Shore Garages project (January 8, 2020)

Starting February 10, 2020, we will close up to 400 of the 1,197 parking spots at Braintree Garage while we work on concrete repairs. This part of the project has been accelerated, which will allow us to reopen the spots by June 2021—a full 16 months sooner than originally planned.

The garage will remain open during construction, and more parking is also available at Quincy Adams and in 2 surface lots at Braintree.

As part of our $9.6 billion, 5-year capital investment plan, we're renovating stations, modernizing fare collection systems, upgrading services for our buses, subways, and ferries, and improving the accessibility of the entire system.

Parking Alternatives

Riders can consider parking at the Quincy Adams Garage. Follow @mbta_parking on Twitter for real-time availability reports weekday mornings.

More than 300 spots are also available at Braintree Station in 2 surface lots off of Ivory Street.

Riders can continue to use PayByPhone or pay-by-plate with the same parking fees as other MBTA surface lots.
